He makes coffee too strong and always wins at Scrabble by using obscure two-letter words. He reads the last page of every book first. He remembers everything anyone has ever told him. I have never once felt invisible around him. That, above all, is the thing.
She laughs before the punchline lands because she already sees where it's going. She turns any kitchen into a complete disaster and produces something extraordinary from it. She is the most completely herself person I have ever met. I am better at everything because of her proximity to it.
We don't have a love story with a neat arc. We have a conversation that's been going for seven years and shows no sign of ending.
I had a plan for my life. She made it substantially better by completely ignoring it.
